Activities to play with your child :

1.  Ask the child to see how tall she/he can stack the blocks without them falling over.  Count the blocks with the child as they are stacked.

2.  Encourage beginning sorting skills by asking the child to sort the blocks with you by colour.  Ask the child to repeat after you the colour name of each block.

3.  Encourage beginning counting skills by asking the child to count with you the number of red or blue blocks.  Review until the child is able to count eight blocks independently.  Repeat the activity with the other coloured blocks.

4.  Encourage beginning shape recognition by sorting the blocks by shape.  Ask the child to repeat after you the shape name of each block.

5.  Create a simple linear pattern using the blocks.  Ask the child to replicate the pattern.
