Melissa & Doug Magnetic Hide & Seek Board is an educational toddler toy full of activities and fun.  The wooden activity board features nine hinged doors.  Behind each door hides an illustrated magnetic piece, that can be removed and moved from door to door.

The Melissa & Doug Hide & Seek Board promotes find motor skills, hand/eye development, and cognitive skills.  This exciting wooden toy encourages visual perception skills and creative expression.

Activities to play with your child

1. Ask the child to identify the picture on each door and on each magnetic piece

2.  Place the pieces behind their corresponding doors.  Ask the child to find each piece by asking guided questions.  For example, "Where would you find pirate's treasure?"

3.  Randomly place each magnetic piece behind a door.  Ask the child to open the doors and identify pieces that are incorrectly placed.

4.  Place 3 or more pieces face up in front of the child.  Ask him/her to study the pieces before closing his/her eyes.  Remove one piece.  Ask the child to identify the missing piece.

5.  Ask the child to create a story using the images that appear on the pieces and the board.  For example, "A pirate's parrot found the treasure chest and hid it in the oven!"

The pieces inside each door are magnetic, so if the puzzle is knocked over the pieces won't go everywhere.  A great game when travelling.

This puzzle is excellent. There are nine "doors" which have a likeness of an object that holds things: -barn (holds a cow) -lunch box (holds a magnet with an image of a thermos, sandwich, and an apple) -present (holds a teddy bear) -cookie jar (holds chocolate chip cookies) -garage (holds a car that looks like a Mini Cooper) -oven (holds a turkey in a roasting pan) -dog house (holds a dog) -covered bird cage (holds a parrot) -treasure chest (holds a magnet with an image of a crown, goblet, jewels, and gold coins) The child is supposed to match the object to which "door" is goes into. This puzzle is a great activity toy for a toddler when travelling.
